This self-propelled gun, created by Baustab Beckerin 1942, was marked as Sd.Kfz.135 / 1 using former french armored personnel carriers Lorraine, captured by the Wehrmacht in 1940. Chassis of light tanks "Hotchkiss" H 35 and H 39, as well as "Renault" R 35
were used too as a running gear for similar in design and purpose ACS of the same name. The Wehrmacht's need to increase mobility of their heavy field artillery.
